Jim Jordan blames Democrats for 10 percent approval rating of Congress

In a recent Gallup poll, Congress received a dismal approval rating of only 10 percent. This record-low rating has caused concern among many Americans, and Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has placed the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Democratic party.

During an interview on Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co.,” Rep. Jordan expressed his disappointment with the current state of Congress. He pointed to the government shutdown that occurred in the fall of 2019, which lasted for a record 35 days, as the main reason for the low approval rating. This shutdown, which was the longest in U.S. history, was a result of a stalemate between Democrats and Republicans over funding for a border wall.

Rep. Jordan argued that the Democrats’ refusal to compromise and their insistence on blocking any funding for the border wall led to the government shutdown and ultimately, the low approval rating for Congress. He stated, “The Democrats have been so focused on resisting and obstructing President Trump that they have neglected their duty to govern and work for the American people.”

The Ohio Republican also pointed out that the Democrats’ actions during the impeachment proceedings against President Trump have further contributed to the negative perception of Congress. He accused them of using the impeachment process as a political tool rather than a serious matter of national concern.

Rep. Jordan’s comments have sparked a debate among political analysts and citizens alike. While some agree with his assessment of the situation, others believe that both parties are to blame for the current state of Congress. However, one thing is clear – the American people are tired of the constant bickering and gridlock in Washington.

The government shutdown not only affected federal workers and their families but also had a significant impact on the economy. It caused delays in tax refunds, disrupted air travel, and left many government agencies understaffed and unable to provide essential services. This shutdown was a clear indication of the dysfunction in Congress and the urgent need for both parties to work together for the betterment of the country.

Despite the challenges faced by Congress, there have been some positive developments in recent months. The passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and the signing of the Phase One trade deal with China are significant achievements that have been overshadowed by the political turmoil in Washington. These deals will benefit American workers and businesses and are a testament to what can be achieved when both parties put aside their differences and work towards a common goal.

It is time for Democrats and Republicans to put the needs of the American people above their political agendas. The American people deserve a Congress that works for them, not against them. It is time for our elected officials to come together and find solutions to the pressing issues facing our nation, such as healthcare, immigration, and infrastructure.

In conclusion, the low approval rating of Congress is a reflection of the current political climate in Washington. The government shutdown and the impeachment proceedings have only added fuel to the fire. However, it is not too late for our elected officials to turn things around and regain the trust of the American people. It is time for them to put aside their differences and work towards a brighter future for our country. As citizens, we must also hold our representatives accountable and demand that they work together for the betterment of our nation. Only then can we see a Congress that truly represents the will of the people.
