Met Office yellow weather warning for wind covers much of Wales

The Met Office has brought in several weather warnings across the UK, whilst Natural Resources Wales has multiple flood alerts and flood warnings in place across Wales. It comes as many trains were cancelled throughout Wednesday and the M48 Severn Bridge was closed for several hours between Chepstow and Aust due to high winds and poor weather from the recently-named Storm Gerrit.

Now, a yellow weather warning for wind is in place from 6pm tonight until 3am, covering much of south, west and north Wales. The latest information from the Met Office explains: "A brief spell of very windy conditions is likely through Wednesday evening and night, bringing the chance of some disruption."

"The warning area has been expanded further inland across Wales and northwest England, as well into the northwest Midlands and southern Pennines. The impact level has also been increased," the Office added. For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter
