‘Mabuza deserves appreciation for commitment to liberation struggle’

Former Deputy President Mabuza will receive a Category 2 State Funeral

The nation is mourning the loss of former Deputy President David Mabuza, who passed away on Tuesday, 9 November 2021. In honor of his contributions and service to the country, the South African government has announced that he will receive a Category 2 State Funeral.

This is a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to serving the people of South Africa. Mabuza was a true leader and a champion of democracy, who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of ordinary citizens. He will always be remembered for his unwavering commitment to the betterment of our nation.

Mabuza’s political career began in the early 1990s when he joined the African National Congress (ANC). He quickly rose through the ranks and became a prominent figure in the party. In 1994, he was elected to the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature and served as the Deputy Chairperson of the ANC in the province. He was also a member of the ANC National Executive Committee.

In 2009, Mabuza was elected Premier of Mpumalanga and served in this position until 2018. During his tenure, he implemented various development projects that improved the lives of the people in the province. He was also known for his hands-on approach to governance and his commitment to addressing the needs of the most vulnerable in society.

In 2018, Mabuza was elected as the Deputy President of South Africa, serving alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa. He played a crucial role in the country’s efforts to address issues such as poverty, inequality, and unemployment. He was also a strong advocate for social justice and championed the rights of marginalized communities.

Mabuza’s passing has left a void in the political landscape of South Africa. He was a leader who was respected by all, regardless of their political affiliations. His humility, compassion, and dedication to serving the people will always be remembered.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the country, the South African government has announced that Mabuza will receive a Category 2 State Funeral. This is the second-highest honor that can be bestowed upon a civilian in South Africa, after a Category 1 State Funeral.

A Category 2 State Funeral is reserved for distinguished persons who have made a significant contribution to the country. It is a solemn and dignified event, with full military honors and a procession of military and civilian vehicles. The national flag will also be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral.

The government has also declared a period of national mourning, during which all flags will be flown at half-mast. This is a time for the nation to come together and pay tribute to a great leader who has left an indelible mark on the country.

As we prepare to bid farewell to Mabuza, let us remember his legacy and the impact he had on the lives of South Africans. He will always be remembered as a selfless leader who put the needs of the people above his own. His dedication to the struggle for a better South Africa will continue to inspire future generations.

In his honor, let us strive to continue his work and build a country that he would be proud of. Let us also keep his family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Deputy President Mabuza. Your memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of the people of South Africa.
