Luna: Graham ‘does NOT tell the President what to do’

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has spoken out against Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) for his recent defense of the U.S. military operation in Iran. In a tweet on Monday, Luna criticized Graham for overstepping his bounds and not respecting President Trump’s authority to oversee the conflict.

“There are some in the Senate that advocate for war everywhere,” Luna wrote on the social platform X. “Lindsey Graham is one of those senators who does not seem to understand that it is not his place to tell President Trump how to handle this situation.”

Luna’s comments come after Graham appeared on several news shows over the weekend, defending the U.S. military strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. The strike has caused increased tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with many questioning the legality and potential consequences of the operation.

Graham, who is known for his hawkish stance on foreign policy, has been a vocal supporter of the military operation and has even advised the President to take further action against Iran if necessary.

But Luna, a veteran herself and a member of the House Armed Services Committee, believes that Graham and other senators should not be interfering with the President’s decisions on how to handle the situation.

“It is the President’s responsibility to oversee and make decisions regarding military operations, not the Senate’s,” Luna said. “As a Congresswoman, it is my duty to question and hold the President accountable, but it is not my place to dictate his actions.”

Luna’s comments have received support from some of her fellow Republicans, who believe that Congress should not be undermining the President’s authority.

“We need to be united in supporting the President and his decisions, especially when it comes to matters of national security,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). “We should not be playing politics and trying to dictate how the President should handle the situation in Iran.”

Despite the criticism, Graham has remained firm in his support for the military operation. In a statement, he said that he stands by his belief that the strike was necessary to protect American lives and interests.

“I have the utmost respect for Rep. Anna Paulina Luna and her service to our country, but I stand by my position that the President made the right decision to take out a known terrorist,” Graham said.

As tensions continue to rise between the U.S. and Iran, it is important for elected officials to put aside their political differences and come together in support of the President’s decisions. The safety and security of our nation should always be the top priority, and it is crucial for our leaders to work together in times of crisis.

Luna’s criticism of Graham serves as a reminder that Congress should not be interfering with the President’s role as commander-in-chief. As the situation in Iran unfolds, it is essential for our elected officials to show a united front and work towards a peaceful resolution.
