I had no idea my teenage son’s killer was back in court – I was horrified

David Braddon, now 37, was convicted of carrying out a ‘merciless, sustained and brutal’ attack on 19-year-old Conner Marshall in 2015. The severity of this crime sent shockwaves through the community and left many questioning how someone could commit such a heinous act.

The attack, which took place in a caravan park in Porthcawl, Wales, left Conner with catastrophic injuries and tragically, he passed away two days later. The court heard how Braddon had subjected Conner to a sustained and brutal attack, leaving him with over 50 injuries including multiple skull fractures, broken ribs, and a lacerated liver. The level of violence and disregard for human life shown by Braddon during this attack was truly chilling.

During the trial, the jury heard how Conner had been staying at the caravan park with friends when Braddon, a complete stranger to Conner, entered the caravan and carried out the savage attack. Braddon had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time, but this in no way excuses his actions. The court found him guilty of murder and he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 30 years.

Braddon’s actions not only took away a young man’s life, but they also left a lasting impact on Conner’s family and friends. The pain and grief they have had to endure since that fateful day is immeasurable. However, despite the unimaginable pain they have been through, Conner’s family have shown remarkable strength and resilience throughout the trial and sentencing.

The judge described Braddon’s attack as ‘merciless, sustained and brutal’ and stated that he had shown no remorse for his actions. This lack of remorse and the sheer brutality of the attack were aggravating factors in determining the length of Braddon’s sentence. It was clear that the court wanted to send a strong message that such violent and senseless acts will not be tolerated in our society.

While nothing can bring Conner back, his family and friends can take some comfort in the fact that justice has been served. Braddon will spend a significant amount of time behind bars, where he will have to face the consequences of his actions. It is hoped that this will also serve as a deterrent to others who may be contemplating committing similar acts of violence.

The community has also come together to support Conner’s family and honor his memory. A charity football match was organized to raise funds for a memorial bench in Conner’s name, and a GoFundMe page was set up to help cover the costs of his funeral. The overwhelming support and love shown by the community is a testament to Conner’s kind and gentle nature.

The memory of Conner Marshall will live on through the lives he touched and the positive impact he had on those around him. His family and friends will continue to cherish his memory and honor him by living their lives to the fullest, just as Conner would have wanted.

As for David Braddon, it is my hope that he will use his time in prison to reflect on his actions and seek redemption. While he may never be able to make amends for what he has done, he can still try to better himself and contribute positively to society in the future.

In conclusion, the 2015 attack on Conner Marshall by David Braddon was a senseless and brutal act that shocked the community. But in the midst of such tragedy, we have seen the strength and resilience of Conner’s family and the unwavering support of the community. While we can never erase the pain and suffering caused by this senseless act, we can honor Conner’s memory by coming together and spreading love and compassion in our society. May Conner rest in peace and may his family find solace in the memories of their beloved son and friend.
