ANC North West wraps up Provincial General Council in Potchefstroom

Governance Challenges Addressed at ANC NW Provincial General Council

The African National Congress (ANC) North West Provincial General Council kicked off on a high note on day one, with governance challenges taking center stage. The event, which was held on the 25th of September 2021, brought together ANC members from all corners of the province to discuss and address the pressing issues facing the province.

The ANC, as the ruling party, has a responsibility to ensure good governance and service delivery to the people of South Africa. However, in recent years, the North West province has been plagued by various governance challenges, which have had a negative impact on the lives of its citizens. It was, therefore, no surprise that the ANC NW Provincial General Council chose to focus on these challenges on its first day.

The council was attended by top ANC officials, including the provincial chairperson, Premier Job Mokgoro, and the provincial secretary, Dakota Legoete. The presence of these leaders showed the seriousness with which the ANC is taking the governance challenges in the North West province.

Premier Mokgoro, in his opening address, acknowledged that there are indeed challenges facing the province, but he assured the delegates that the ANC is committed to addressing them. He emphasized the need for unity within the party, stating that only a united ANC can effectively tackle the governance challenges in the province.

The delegates engaged in robust discussions, with each member given an opportunity to voice their concerns and suggestions on how to improve governance in the province. The discussions were frank and honest, with members not shying away from highlighting the shortcomings of the ANC-led government in the North West.

One of the main challenges that were highlighted was the issue of corruption. It was noted that corruption has become a cancer that is eating away at the fabric of society and hindering development in the province. The delegates unanimously agreed that corruption needs to be rooted out at all levels of government, and those found guilty must face the full might of the law.

Another issue that was brought to the fore was the lack of service delivery in some parts of the province. Many delegates shared stories of communities that have been waiting for years for basic services such as water, electricity, and proper housing. This lack of service delivery has led to frustration and anger among the people, and the ANC is well aware that it needs to do better in this regard.

The ANC NW Provincial General Council also discussed the issue of leadership within the party. It was noted that there is a need for strong and capable leaders who are committed to serving the people and not their own interests. The delegates agreed that the ANC needs to invest in developing leaders who are ethical, accountable, and have the necessary skills to lead effectively.

Despite the challenges that were highlighted, the mood at the council remained positive and determined. The delegates showed a genuine desire to address the issues facing the province and to work together towards finding solutions. It was evident that the ANC is serious about tackling the governance challenges in the North West and is willing to take the necessary steps to do so.

The ANC NW Provincial General Council also served as a platform for the party to reflect on its past mistakes and to learn from them. It was acknowledged that the ANC has made some missteps in the past, but the party is committed to rectifying those mistakes and moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose and determination.

In conclusion, the first day of the ANC NW Provincial General Council was a success, with governance challenges taking center stage. The delegates showed a united front and a willingness to work together towards finding solutions to the issues facing the province. The ANC leadership also demonstrated their commitment to addressing these challenges and working towards a better future for the people of the North West. As the council continues, it is hoped that concrete plans and strategies will be put in place to address the governance challenges and improve the lives of the people in the province.
