Mbalula Affirms ANC’s Backing for the Commission
The African National Congress (ANC) has once again reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture, with Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula leading the charge.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Mbalula emphasized the party’s commitment to the Commission and its efforts to uncover the truth behind the alleged looting of state resources by individuals and entities.
“The ANC stands firmly behind the Commission and its mandate to investigate the serious allegations of state capture that have plagued our country,” Mbalula stated.
The Commission, headed by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, was established in 2018 to investigate allegations of corruption and state capture during the tenure of former President Jacob Zuma. Since then, it has heard testimonies from a wide range of witnesses, including government officials, business leaders, and members of the public.
Mbalula praised the Commission for its diligent work and commended the witnesses who have come forward to share their experiences and provide valuable information.
“We are grateful for the bravery of those who have come forward to testify and assist the Commission in its pursuit of justice. It is through their courage that the truth is being revealed and those responsible for wrongdoing are being held accountable,” he said.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of the Commission’s work in restoring public trust in government institutions and promoting transparency and accountability.
“The Commission is an essential tool in our fight against corruption and ensuring that those who have abused their positions of power are brought to justice. It is also crucial in rebuilding public confidence in our government and its ability to serve the people with integrity,” Mbalula stated.
He also urged all South Africans to support the Commission and allow it to complete its work without interference.
“We must all unite in our support for the Commission and its efforts to uncover the truth. This is not a time for political point-scoring or personal agendas. We must all put the interests of our country first and allow the Commission to do its job without hindrance,” he said.
Mbalula’s reaffirmation of the ANC’s support for the Commission comes at a critical time as the country continues to grapple with the devastating effects of corruption and state capture. It serves as a reminder that the ANC remains committed to upholding the values of transparency, accountability, and good governance.
In conclusion, Mbalula’s statement sends a strong message of unity and determination in the fight against corruption. The ANC’s unwavering support for the Commission is a clear indication that the party is serious about rooting out corruption and restoring the trust of the people. As South Africans, we must continue to stand behind the Commission and its efforts to bring those responsible for state capture to justice. Only then can we move forward towards a brighter and more prosperous future for our country.
