For most of us Christmas Day is a joyful time spent with family and friends. But for many people, December 25 is also a difficult day, with money worries, strained relationships, loneliness or grief just a few of the issues people face acutely during the festive period.
This Christmas, one Cardiff resident decided to help out anyone struggling – or those who simply wanted to do something a bit different – by running a 'Christmas Day Social Club' on Monday. Stephanie Ferry, 35, who lives in Canton, hosted the event at her local gym on Monday afternoon and welcomed anyone to attend, with no booking required.
The Compound Gym on Papermill Road in Canton was transformed into a positive space for people to meet others and socialise from 12pm until 3pm. Around 25 people of all ages from different parts of Cardiff turned up and everyone enjoyed complimentary refreshments and snacks.
