VIDEO: Media briefing on outcomes of Special Cabinet meeting

The Minister in the Presidency, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, held a media briefing today to announce the outcomes of the Special Cabinet Meeting held on the 14th of April 2021.

The meeting was convened to discuss the progress made in the implementation of the National Development Plan (NDP), and the key decisions taken by the Cabinet.

At the briefing, Dr. Dlamini-Zuma highlighted the importance of the NDP as an overarching strategy for South Africa’s development. She said that the NDP provides a comprehensive framework for the country’s socio-economic transformation and is the cornerstone of the government’s efforts to build a prosperous, equitable and just society.

The Minister also noted that the Cabinet had taken a number of important decisions to ensure that the NDP is implemented effectively. These include the adoption of a new National Infrastructure Plan to guide the country’s infrastructure development, and the establishment of a National Development Fund to finance the implementation of the NDP. The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a National Council for Social Cohesion and Reconciliation to ensure that all South Africans are included in the country’s development.

The Minister also highlighted the progress made in the implementation of the NDP, noting that the government has made significant strides in improving the country’s economic and social conditions. She said that the government has implemented numerous initiatives to reduce poverty, create jobs, improve access to education and health services, and promote economic growth.

Dr. Dlamini-Zuma also noted that the government has taken steps to ensure that the NDP is implemented in a manner that is equitable and inclusive. She said that the government has adopted a number of measures to ensure that all South Africans are included in the country’s development, including the establishment of a National Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Council and the adoption of the National Infrastructure Plan.

In conclusion, Dr. Dlamini-Zuma said that the outcomes of the Special Cabinet Meeting demonstrate the government’s commitment to the implementation of the NDP. She said that the government is determined to ensure that South Africa’s development is equitable and inclusive, and that all South Africans benefit from the country’s progress.
