Mum looked like ‘Rudolph’ after skin ‘suddenly erupted’ while cooking Christmas dinner

A mother-of-two whose face turned into a “red-hot furnace” on Christmas Day, and made her look like “Rudolph” and feel incredibly self-conscious, has now found a miraculous remedy which she says has changed her life. Anna Rees, 44, a NHS project manager, who lives in Stroud, Gloucestershire, with her husband and their two children, 15 and 12, whom she does not wish to name, had a skin flare-up while cooking dinner on Christmas Day 2021.

Her skin was “so red and spotty” and the heat from the cooking made her skin “suddenly erupt” and she had to rush upstairs to splash cold water on it to try to cool it down – but it lasted for the entire Christmas period. Anna avoided family photographs and was also “really worried” about why her skin had turned so red – she continued to have a bright red face with spots for the next few months, which “felt horrible” because she never expected to have acne in her 40s.

She saw her GP and was prescribed antibiotics but was told it would not make the redness disappear, which left Anna feeling “disheartened” – but, while searching online for long-term solutions, she came across a selection of creams and cleaners made from capers by Kalme which can help with rosacea. After using a collection of their products for around three months, Anna’s spots have gone, with her rosacea kept at bay. She has said “hopefully” this Christmas will “not be ruined” by her skin.

“My face was just suddenly so red and spotty,” Anna told PA Real Life. “I tried to cover it up with loads of make-up but it didn’t really do anything.

“I made jokes about being the Christmas Rudolph to try and laugh it off but underneath I was really worried about what was going on with my skin.” On her recovery with the creams, Anna said: “After about three months of using the cream cleanser, night repair cream and day defence cream, I could really see the difference.
