Bronny James Scores Crucial Free Throw in OT Thriller, As Isaiah Collier’s Inefficiency Costs USC the Game

The USC Trojans hosted the Long Beach State 49ers at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday night with all eyes on the much-anticipated debut of Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James. After a decent start to the season, USC was looking to bounce back from a previous game defeat to Gonzaga.

The game started off with a bang, as the 49ers took an early lead and maintained it until the end of the first half. However, the Trojans made a strong comeback in the second half, as they kept the game close and even managed to take the lead with less than a minute to go. Unfortunately, a late three-pointer from the 49ers sent the game into overtime.

In the extra period, USC was able to take a four-point lead with 1:20 left on the clock. However, the 49ers managed to tie the game with a layup with just 13 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, Bronny James was fouled while attempting a three-pointer and was given three free throws. James calmly stepped up to the line and drained all three free throws to give the Trojans a three-point lead with just seconds remaining.

Unfortunately, the Trojans were unable to close out the game as Isaiah Collier missed two free throws with just seconds left on the clock. The 49ers took advantage of the opportunity and nailed a buzzer-beating three-pointer to win the game by a single point.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Bronny James was the star of the show, finishing the game with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. His clutch free throws in overtime were the highlight of the night and proved that the young freshman is ready to make an immediate impact in college basketball.

The loss was a tough pill to swallow for the Trojans, but it was not due to a lack of effort from James. The freshman guard showed that he has the poise and skill to be a difference-maker in college basketball, and he will only get better as the season progresses.

At the end of the day, the game came down to a few crucial mistakes from the Trojans, and Isaiah Collier’s inefficiency from the free-throw line was the most costly. Had he made one of his two free throws, the Trojans would have emerged victorious.

Overall, it was an entertaining game and a fantastic debut for Bronny James. The Trojans will look to bounce back from the loss and will hope that James’ play can help them get back on track.
