Anne Hathaway supports Margot Robbie’s ‘Barbie’ movie being made instead of hers

900 words:

Anne Hathaway has recently voiced her support for the upcoming Margot Robbie-starring “Barbie” movie, insisting that it is “the best possible version” of a project that was originally earmarked for her.

The former Princess Diaries star was originally attached to a Barbie film back in 2017, but after the project was shelved, Robbie was brought in to bring the iconic Mattel toy to life.

Speaking in an interview with Variety, Hathaway expressed her support for the new project and even commended Robbie for her work with it.

“That’s a project that I was attached to for a really long time,” Hathaway said. “And I genuinely think that Margot Robbie, who’s a friend of mine, is the best possible version of that movie. I think it’s really great that she got to kind of create her own version of it and I’m excited to see her version.”

The actress went on to explain that, while she was disappointed that the original project didn’t pan out, she was happy to see it in the hands of someone else.

“I think there’s a little something that kind of breaks my heart because I was so attached to it for so long,” she said. “But there was something really special about it and I’m happy that Margot got to experience that.”

Hathaway’s comments have been met with acclaim from fans, who have praised the star for her selfless attitude and for supporting another woman in Hollywood.

The Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, is set to hit theaters in June 2020. Hathaway’s recent project, The Hustle, was a box-office success, and she currently has a number of other projects in the works.

It’s heartening to see such a well-known Hollywood star take a public stance in support of a fellow actress, and Anne Hathaway should be commended for her commitment to furthering the careers of other women in the industry.
